RE: [GSAS-Member] Safe in Tank Acrylic Sandpaper

I have twice sanded a scratch from the inside of my tank with fish in it. The way I did it was using a small piece of paper and manually rubbing the scratched area with the grain of the scratch. After maybe 15-25 strokes the sratched area would smooth out and become hazy as Susan mentioned.

Then I switched to polishing compounds that claimed to be safe for use in the aquarium. I have not found any grade of mesh or paper the will remove the haze, only polishing compound.

Paul,

Were you using the sandpaper with the fish in the tank?

I had no problems using the the sandpaper in the tank, didnt harm the
fish
any I could see.

The 2000 grit would be about the finest I would use, beyond that its
similar
to rubbing with a cloth and polish. The finer papers also clog up
quickly
and lose their "bite".
