Re: [GSAS-Member] HELP! My Blue Rams have hatched!
The fry will be helpless 'wigglers' for a day or two under control of the
parents (as long as they're not being sucked into power filters or consumed
by other fish.) I agree, remove everything you can from the tank other than
the Rams.
Start hatching baby brine shrimp right away and start feeding it a couple
times a day. It will take 24 hours for it to hatch and the adults will eat
it, too, so it won't go to waste (plus, hopefully, the parents are clueful
enough to not eat their own young. Sometimes it takes cichlids a few times
to get it right.)
Be sure to read some of the Net articles on raising baby brine shrimp, it
isn't particularly difficult, you need (well, what I use) is a 1 qt jar, a
small airpump, some tubing, salt, eggs, ...
Breeding rams is quite the challenge - in my experience, Discus are easier
to breed than rams. The real challenge will be raising the fry to saleable
size. Good luck.
Matt
