Anita: If the parents are doing the rearing, I have heard of spawns being raised off of flake food alone (from plantedtank.net). It seems that the adults grind it up in there gill teeth and spit it at the fry. It looks like there is enough microfauna in an established tank to keep the fry going and it is possible that the crushed foods feed the microfauna more than the fry. For my own spawns I have used frozen baby brine and liquifry but I have also raised one angel to date. Not one spawn, but one fish. I do have 3 day old ram eggs (with a lace plant that has flowered twice) that should hatch tonight so if I find anything I will pass it on. -Paul On Thu, 14 Apr 2005, steev ward wrote:
The green water might contain some good food organisms. A good supplement for tanks with babies is to grind up some feeze-dried food (like bloodworms or krill) into as fine a powder as you can and then mix this with some water and try to squirt it down where the babies are. We don't want to pollute the water of course. Steev A JACOBSON wrote:I do have some really stinky green water outside. Is this an appropriate food source?
