RE: [GSAS-Member] RE: Anubus / Other Low light plants

I've not had much success with either Anubias spp or with java ferns. On
the other hand, I've had Hygrophilia sp (whatever spp. Bob Holmes gave us
awhile back), baby tears, dwarf sagittaria and java moss take over tanks.
I use mostly 10g tanks, have 2 light strips (15w each) over them, and have
potting soil/gravel overlayer for most. Either sponge filter or outside
power filter (BioWheels), no CO2 injection, and periodic supplementation
with Flourish. The best plant tanks for me have been the ones that get
some direct sunlight, usually filtered through maples outside the windows.
My tanks typically have light fish loads: here are 3 - 10 g tank fish
loads - 1 clown pleco, 4-8 exclamation point rasboras//1 Botia striata,
2-3 adult honey gouramis//2 small Otocinclus spp., 6 adult male Dario
dario.

In my ideal tank, I have plants that will fill in nicely, won't need
trimming more often than monthly, and don't turn into yellow dying stems
within days...with 2-3 watts per gallon and no CO2 injection, i.e. low
tech tanks.
