I keep live plants and discus with them. I think plants are important and marine salt, at least one teaspoon per gallon. Hi, Susan. You seem to be having such success with your shrimp. It sounds like fun to me. Would you mind you explaining your setup? Maybe you could write an article on their care for the newsletter :) I am interested in setting up a cherry shrimp tank in a 5g with some plants. I am thinking all I'd need is a desk lamp or small lamp of some kind, some sand, a small heater, and an air stone. Does that sound about right? Do you keep any fish or other creatures with your shrimp? Thanks! I am having an unusual situation with my big planted tank. There is a weird sulfur-like smell coming from the cabinet area. Maybe my eHeim filter is burning out? I cleaned out the filter today, thinking it was the tank, but just the usual dirty filter smell. Also, now available, Really Red Cherry Shrimp - $2 each.
