Re: [GSAS-Member] Killifish for sale, or free (read on)

Holly,

Anyone interested can come to a meeting without joining. The membership fee of $12 goes to cover things such as postage for box exchanges, etc. There is never any pressure to join. ;)

See you tomorrow,

Holly,

The killi group generally meets once a month at someone's house. The
holidays have messed up the meeting schedule as of late, and I assume our
next meeting will end up being in Feb.

For me, killies have been very addictive. But I find that a balance becomes
struck between time and space. The two tanks you have might satisfy your
urge. ;)

I generally keep all mine in species only tanks. For most of the annuals I
keep, all the females look alike... so I would not be able to separate them
out later if I wanted to. Better to keep species separate.

How often and where does the killi group meet? I've been to the website a few times, but it doesn't seem to get updated very often. I'm interested in killifish but I'm afraid it will be like fish crack and I'll end up with 50 small aquariums! I do have two 5g aquariums empty currently though... Do you keep them all in species only tanks or

can you do a little mix?

Well, they could live in the one gallon for a bit. Eventually you would probably want to put them into something a little bigger. I keep a number of juveniles in a 2.5 gallon tank, or a trio of adults. Lots depend on water quality. If you are good about keeping the water quality up, then they could be in the 1 gallon tank through adult-hood.

I could always give you some smaller fish too, so that it would give you a bit more time to think about changing to a larger tank if you wish.

Let me know what you think. If you still would like a pair or two, I can bag them up and bring them to the meeting on Tuesday.

Are you still looking for homes for your killifish? I have wanted to try them for awhile. The problem right now is I only have a 1 gallon cycled tank. ( It was my daughters and I moved it's occupants out to my planted aquarium but have been keeping it up thinking I might put a betta or something in it) They would have cramped quarters until I could set up another one. How much space do killis like?

Hello All,

I first must apologize that I haven't been able to meet with you all as of late... I've been rewiring and remodeling my house (which is a big chore indeed). Hopefully I'll make a meeting real soon.

Well, as happens now and again, I have some killifish for sale. I have four pairs of Nothobranchius guentheri available. See the Google link below to check out pictures.

They are an annual killifish, and are a great beginner fish too.

Each pair is $5, or FREE if you join the local killie club (dues are $12/year). The local killie club (Puget Sound Killifish Assoc.) is a great resource for knowledge, killifish/eggs, live foods, and of course to visit with nice people.

If anyone is interested, please drop me an email.

Cheers,

Mark
