RE: [GSAS-Member] any tips for breeding corys?

Thanks Bob, while I was searching for the escapee frog, I took out a bunch of equipment I'd been storing in plastic bins, and discovered some really powerful powerheads I forgot I had. I'll put those in. Thanks.

I can't speak from experience, but here's a couple of things I have either read or witnessed:

When you do a water change, add water that's a little cooler than the tank water. Supposed to simulate a shot of fresh rain coming down the river, and that's supposed to heighten the corys' urge to spawn. My neighbor's corys ( C. metae, i think) spawned for him repeatedly over a year or so without any encouragement on his part, and the turbulence in his tank was almost brutal. Two big powerheads running an undergravel filter plus a big biowheel filter. Looked like a washing machine in there. Corys like moving water, I think. You could try adding a powerhead to move the water around.

Hope you're successful!

Bob

I have done a lot of research today online, and have found very mixed answers. Some people say it's very difficult to breed them in the home aquarium, while others say it's easy... I guess I'll find out. I don't think I've ever seen corydoras adolfoi before.

Boy, if you're successful than maybe I'll try my hand at Corydoras adolfoi.
I saw some at The Fish Store and they're so cute, but spendy. Good luck,
Monica!

I want to try and breed my panda corys. Has anyone ever done this? Any
tips? I have about 7 or 8 panda corys, and I was going to put them in my
spare 60g tank (It's cycled, I just keep it for experiments like this).
Everything i have read said to keep the tank bare, currently it has soft
black sand. I can take it out if necessary though. Any tips on sexing
corys? I'll share if I'm successful. :) I'm going to set it up for the
corys tonight.
