It might be worth considering red cherry shrimp instead of Amanos. I have little teeny tanks (2.5 gallons) full of java moss, plant trimmings and red cherry shrimp and now the shrimp are breeding like gangbusters. I've got pond snails and MTS in there as well. I rarely do water changes....usually just to remove shrimp via siphon to move to other tanks. Then I top off the water with new water. I've been removing 30 or so baby shrimp weekly to move to new tanks. Whatever comes up in the siphon (wink).
