I picked up some high knee boots and a long-handled net (since the net was pretty cheap)in Woodinville this morning....and went back down to the pond to see if I could see any more fish. The pond had settled substantially since yesterday and I could see a couple really nice shubunkins and miscellaneous smaller fish so was stupid (or brave....you pick)...and went into the pond alone. I netted another 20 or so fish....all sizes. The pond is only about 6" deep now and part of it is pretty flat so I didn't have much trouble. I wish this ancient computer I have here at home could net browse so I could research shubunkins! I just don't know how their color develops. I have quite a few really small fish (roughly 1 1/2") and some are nicely colored, some are vaguely mottled and others are that dusty bronze color young comets are sometimes before they turn orange. Some have long flowy tails....others have short little comet-fish tails. I'm putting the teeny ones inside in a tank where they will get fed. I don't think they are big enough to go through the winter in a pond trying to be 'dormant'/no eating. Again....I'm not gonna hold these till the next meeting for those who want some....all that I don't personally want will go home with my ex-neighbor when she drives down from their new place to pick them up Friday. The told me that the first batch of fish she put in the pond several years ago were comets....so these aren't all shubunkins! E-mail me if you want to coordinate something. I'll be here...there...and everywhere on Monday and Tuesday although I have both days off. I'll go back down tomorrow after the pond has settled again to see if I can find more fish. I think most of them have been netted, but I could be fooled! I did take some digital photos of the pond this morning when the sun was out.
