Yes, I think I know what you mean. Some of the biggest ones I think are shubunkins have some scales that look different...the sequined appearance thing. They are also mottled in grey/black/white/orange and have long, flowing tails. I didn't notice this on the smaller fish. They are mottled and have longer, flowing tails but but I didn't notice the scale feature. It could be less obvious because they are smaller, or does it develop as the fish ages?? All my fish/aquarium reference materials are at work (sigh)and I can't web browse on this ancient computer at home (or at least 80% of the time the silly thing freezes up if I try).
