Has anyone seen Ameca splendens make a dent in a tank with existing 
hair algae?
I've almost completely stopped adding any food to my planted tank that 
has a problem with hair algae. All of the fish including the four 
Amecas that are in it are hungry, and the hair algae is growing as fast 
as ever. When I do add a little flake food, the Ameca's devour it like 
crazy, beating the Angel fish and the Corries to it.

I've also doubled the amount of light to the tank on another member's 
recommendation (the woman who moved to Hawaii). She said that would 
stop the hair algae, but if anything, it is growing faster. Luckily I 
enjoy the look of it, and most of my fish seem to like it as well. The 
next step is to add 1ml per gallon of 3% H2O2, a recommendation made 
about a year ago by another member.
