Re: [GSAS-Member] Rainbow cichlids

Very true. When breeding they just kinda look at interlopers real hard and will
them away. Not in the least hazardous to other tankmates. I have a bunch of
the older ones in with a dozen common guppies and they don't even eat the fry.
The original pair just shove their kids out of the way with their bodies when
they try to snack thier siblings off the hatching rock. Kewl critters.

I just want to say that back when I 'did' cichlids, rainbow cichlids were
one of my favorites! They aren't HUGE, they are pretty and not horribly
aggressive (like some cichlids). For instance, when they bred in our
community tank at work, they didn't kill off the other inhabitants like
our kribensis (at 1/3 the size) did! If I had a larger tank freed up, I'd
think about these guys, but I really am not in cichlid-mode this time.
Just wanted to give some kudos to a cool cichlid species.
