I did that on a 130gal I had years ago... it took awhile to refill and
got distracted reading a forum on the pc... didn't even hear the water
rushing over the side...

Someone coming in got wet feet and got my attention... The entire living
room and down the hall and into the all the rooms were soaked. Took 6
hours, every towel and sheet in the house and many trips with the
wet/dry vac to clean up that mess. Not sure how much water actually
escaped the tank... I'd guesstimate about 15 minutes worth of the hose
running on the floor of your living room! 

We have pergo so it only caused minimal damage. I no longer leave the
room when refilling a fish tank =)

Well, it was bound to happen.

 

I was refilling my 30 gal in my front room and a client called.  Hooray!
We
found a million dollar building to buy.  

 

Um.wasn't I doing something?

 

THE TANK!

 

Lots of water is now rushing over the side of my tank and down the stand
onto the floor.

So much water all over the front room carpet. Soaked.

Then the phone rang with the neighbors downstairs with water dripping
from
their ceiling.

 

Not so good.

 

Luckily my friend down the street had a wet-vac and I got to work.

 

I intend to never do that again.
