[GSAS-Member] another news

 I got another news folks.

This morning, I was changing the water from the tank the CPD(Celestial Pearl
Danio formally known Galaxy Rasbora) is in. And I check the bottom of the
bucket before throw away the water, I notice some tiny thing move. Look
carefully, it is A FRY.
And there are no other fish but 3 CPD in the tank with some shrimps and
snails. I might have to set the tank without snails if I want to be serious
about breeding the CPD I suppose.

S/he is little bigger than Neon Tetra free-swimmer. I guess about 3/16" but
was already dark colored. I think s/he was at the stage of somewhere between
wiggler to free-swimmer. I could not find the suitable container/ net so I
just gently put him/her back in the tank.

I knew breeding CPD is pretty easy but I wonder how many could survive in
survival of fittest setting. I don't think the cherry or tiger shrimps would
be threat for the eggs or frys but snail would be for the eggs I believe.
But I think and hope that CPD is like other Danios that lay many eggs. So
some would make it to swimming stage. I guess I'll see in few weeks or a
month.

Probably someone may curious about the set up and condition and I do not have
the way to post picture. I will try to describe as best as I can.

There are 3 adult CPD at the moment( I bought 2 like month ago but they were
females so bought 2 males like 2 weeks ago. And one of the male found dead few
days later. And I think the weaker male got killed by the dominant male since
I saw them chasing. So I think the male could be territorial if there are not
enough space.) in one of those nano tank. I think it is about 4G with triangle
sponge filter.

I think the ph is around 6.8~7 since I just use our tap water. And hardness
is supposed to be less than 220ppm according to our water company. Temperature
is room temperature but set the heater to kick in around 70F. Sandy bottom
with some carpet plants and Java Moss occupied at least half the bottom area.

Well, good luck to you all people who try to breed them and good luck to me
some will survive and be see swimming in few weeks I hope.

And hopefully have some to bring to the meeting in few month and claim for
the BAP.

               Hiro
