Can boxes of live fish be insured? How awful!

PSKA sent a box of fish, express mail, on Monday to NJ. Due to arrive
Tuesday, in time for a fish club meeting Wednesday.
The box still hasn't arrived. All the PO is saying is, "yes, they reached
seattle on monday." No idea where they are since. They're going to refund my
express mail fee. How nice.
Do postal service packages from Seattle go through San Diego? Or, is it
simply the case that, well, they're just a bunch of blundering dunderheads
living on the public dime?
I called them yesterday (2 days after the box left), and they're
'researching' where the box is. They can take up to 14 days to find out.
Any suggestions? Anyone know who to contact in seattle to find out if the box
left?
