Re: [GSAS-Member] Growing Live Food

I tried microworms once. I had a really hard time keeping mold from
growing in the oatmeal medium. Sometimes I'd get a batch that didn't mold
but that was really rare. I just lost too many cultures to mold to keep
the critters going. Besides, I get really creeped out by the squirmy
stuff.

I don't like baby brine...really big hassle but that's just my opinion.
And I've tried 'a number' of different culturing set ups.

Daphnia has been the easiest for me. I also get these little
reddish/maroon worms (actually, they get pretty long sometimes) in the
leaf detritus in some of my daphnia cultures that some fish love. Don't
know what they are....they remind me of tubifex. I get 'some' bloodworms
also.

I admit I'm not really up on freshwater invertebrates (blush)....it's been
too many decades since THOSE biology classes (wink).
