Oh Boy..... I love the Amano tanks and already set aside money for it as of last night. Interesting how the stands costs more than the tanks from ADG. From the pic Erik sent, looks like he has one.
No, no, not at all. I shoved the plants into an acrylic tank that's sitting around in our basement (bought at a GSAS auction for $40 several years ago -- had no place for it in the house). Amano-style tanks are glass, and the corners come to a point. They're siliconed together like other glass tanks, but the cutting on the glass is so precise that you don't see a big bead of silicone on it.
I did a quick google, and came up with this photo gallery from the Dallas Ft-Worth Aquatic Plant Club that illustrates the ADA tank pretty nicely:

I find it interesting that Erik states no one has proven the benefits from underwater heating cables. I thought these studies were proven long ago.
Nope, that was something that was proven "by Dupla". What has happened in the intervening years is that people have tried both in their aquariums and have on the whole come to the conclusion "eh, didn't really make any difference one way or another." So you'll find very few commercial heating cable products out there now, whereas you'll find lots of substrates, CO2, and an insane amount of lighting options.
I agree Dupla names their stuff weird
Yes, but wait till you see the Japanese. "Aqua Soil", "Power Sand", "Brighty Green", "Pennac", etc. Some of us thought "this is a joke" when first hearing the name, but it's the highest-end stuff on the market today.
