What is the general concensious on ramshorn snails? Does the group mostly think of them as pests, or that ramshorns may damage sensitive plants that the nerites might not? I have ramshorns in most of my planted tanks, and I haven't noticed them causing problems with plants that aren't already having issues (ie, if something is already melting, they clean up the mess, don't don't seem to bother the main plant-- but this may be the types of plants in my tanks, most of my stuff is very common and prolific?). In tanks with both ancistrus and ramshorns (that have noticable algea) I notice more "snail trails" than "ancistrus grazing" across the walls of the tank... Although I'm sure ramshorns eat fish eggs (obviously a negative in egg laying tanks), I'm assuming Nerites would do the same?
