Thanks Steev. I am laughin' over here picturing how freaked out and curious I would be having my fish pass out when they swam over to one side of the tank. THAT would get my attention! -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Steev Ward Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2008 4:13 PM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Shattered Heater. Is that bad? Actually, it isn't all that bad. I've had many broken heaters in tanks and the fish have done well. If you take the heater out as soon as it gets broken you can get by without a water change even. I knew a person once who had a heater break, and he didn't notice it for about a week. He only grew worried about the fish when he noticed that they would occassionally "pass out" when swimming on one end of the tank. Turns out they were getting shocked when the heater came on if they were near it. After he took it out everything was fine.
