Hi Scott, you're talkin over 1 thousand pounds, so IMHO, if ithe floor 
is 2x6 joist, you definitely have a problem. Even if it's standard 2x8 
joist I would still do some minimal shoring up. I had my 100gal on 2x8 
joist for a few years and, though it wasn't noticable there was a small 
amount of 'sag'. There are other variables, but if you cant determine 
what type of floor your dealing with I think you're wise to downsize.
