These days I do goldfish in Rubbermaid stock tanks. You can get them at feed stores (like De Young's next door to Molbak's in Woodinville). They are planted with waterlilies and some parrotfeather spp. Plus all the floater stuff (duckweed, azolla etc). For 2-3 shubunkins, I'd pick up a 50 gallon stock tank although they come larger. They aren't that expensive unless to start getting to the 100 gallon + sizes. I think the goldfish would be happier than in a little 20-29 gallon tank and the surface area is more suitable than in a cube tank. Just my opinion....since I'm pining for a 300 gallon stock tank these days myself but it won't fit in my Tribute! I'm not sure what 'a goldfish tank price' means (wink)....I guess you mean folks aren't interested in paying much for keeping goldfish vs cichlids (another wink)??????? Some of us like goldfish way way more than cichlids (grin).
