Re: [GSAS-Member] Pond Algae is a hairy problem

So far I've found that having LOTS of oxygenating plants in the pond helps
most. I've been using parrot feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum) in 2
forms...one has red stems and is smaller in size than the non-red stemmed
form. However, now it seems that most oxygenating plants have been
declared noxious weeds here (including parrot feather) and are no longer
available. I did get all the red-stemmed parrot feather that Moorehaven
had last year and they said it might be the last year they were able to
get it. I don't have problems with thread algae in my goldfish ponds. It
does show up in the ponds with whiteclouds only. I don't want much water
movement since I keep water lilies in all my ponds. I do have green water
problems in new ponds and those without enough oxygenating plants. Working
on that.....

I've wondered about doing some kind of filtration, but I don't have power
to the area with the ponds (scratching head)...and I'm NOT a gadget or
techie person....
