Ah Ha! Thanks Tom. That got me, after a Google search, to a great website by
WA State:
http://www.ecy.wa.gov/Programs/wq/plants/weeds/<http://www.ecy.wa.gov/Programs/wq/plants/weeds/>
- exactly what I was looking for.
And you are right, I most definitely found some Eurasian milfoil. Rats. I was
hoping for something native. I will make sure none of it escapes alive from
where I have it.
I did get a couple different species in the scoop; will do my best to figure
out what they are. In the daylight that is; it is late!
So then the next question to you Tom is this: is it legal to transport native
aquatic species?? Once I can find and identify the natives, can I go get them
legally?
Thanks,
Connie

The "hornwort-looking plants" sound like milfoil. It is illegal to
transport milfoil in the state of Washington.

Does anyone out there know the rules about scooping up pond
water/flora&fauna in WA, King County, Seattle, or Seattle Public Parks?
This morning after the dog walk, I took a big bucketful of water and
hornwort-looking (along with a TON of algae, I confess!) from the lagoon in
Discovery Park to use in one of my koi experiments. I have to confess I was
working quickly and had that sense of danger sensation, like I was doing
something I shouldn't be, but got to thinking; how bad could it REALLY be??
SO, is this another case of - It is easier to ask Forgiveness than it is to
ask Permission - or is this OK ??? I guess I would like to know, or where
to find out, for future reference (ie do I always need to do this in
stealth mode, or can I do it whenever I want??) ;+)
Thanks!
Connie
