After a fair amount of success with larger, hungry fish (rainbows/angels) I 
have tried on several occasions to feed blue rams in quarantine with the same 
results you describe (frozen 'bloodworms' aka midgefly larve).  I even did the 
presoak to warm and hydrate the frozen chunks.  I have nothing but anecdotal 
evidence (and a lot a bloodworms in the freezer) though.
