OOH, Koi tours, Im in... ;+) I think I will take raccoons over those darn otters any day, by the way. Yep, my most common koi have that spot on thier head too, and but are more yellowish than grey, with little black dots down the rest of them. Lots of variety within that theme in the group, so it will be interesting to see how they progress. If I remember ANYTHING from listening at the Koi show to those judges talk though, it is that the patterns are highly variable and are constantly changing as the fish develops. What might look good now could go either way as they mature. I too have a few with that grey/blue hue to them; hard to tell how these, or any of them for that matter, will grow out yet. Sure is fun watching them change though! My favorite so far has a lighter base color (but still speckled like the rest) and a darker black saddle-looking pattern over the top of that. Cute! LITTLE, but cute! He is the only one so far with anything resembling a mottled pattern, the rest dont come close. My biggest so far is one of those golden/light orange ones but with no dot on his head; porky pig when it comes to food and it shows. It will be fun to compare fish at the October meeting!
