Shango, I agree with Laurel but would add that they are messy fish and would require a lot of maintenance keeping them inside. I am changing water every few days & Betty I know is changing water more like every day, even with these fish that are 1/4 inch to two inches. (both in 10 gal tanks so far) They eat as much as you feed them, and produce the waste to match... the algae and mulm buildup that inevitably follows is impressive. Now granted, we are trying to get them to grow AFAP, and you could certainly modify THAT plan to keep the tank cleaner, but still. That being said I myself plan to keep a few inside over the winter; I am hoping that as long as I provide good water movement and regular water changes they will be fine. I havent decided whether this will be in a tank or in one of those 50gal poly drums though. And that is with these little fry. I was tempted at the Koi show to try it with one of those 4-inchers, but just couldnt do it for the exact reasons we are discussing in this thread, as well as the cost if the experiment does not work. Those young ones with all the flashy colors are sure tempting though! I think it is one of the subtle reasons I have been avoiding the initial visit to PanI. so far... ;+) Ultimately Steev would be the one to ask, he is the one with the real experience caring for these fish. I hope this helps! Connie _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member
