Re: [GSAS-Member] desktop tanks

Thanks for the information.

I ended up getting an Eclipse 12 off of the craigslist for $20.

There seems to be a crack in the acrylic, but it holds water. Eh, if it
starts leaking, I'll use a blowtorch to melt it shut and use the thing as
a quarantine tank.

I need to wheel by the Fish store and pick up some substrate, and home
depot for a fresh light bulb, and this thing should be ready to start
cycling.

I'm only looking at Java fern / moss, Bolbitus fern, and anubius.
I'm surprised that you had problems with Anubius. i've got a 40g long
that's just lit with 2 x single 15W strip lights, and the anubius is
thriving, wheras the java fern all died off. Leaves got big brown patches
and then fell off. I assumed it was too little light, and that the anubius
could tolerate lower light. Perhaps something else was wrong. Like I
said, black thumb.

Once I get the eclipse going, I'm definitely going to turn the 2g hex into
a shrimp and snail tank.

Thanks to all for the advice.

Enjoy the meeting tonight. I run a trivia night on tuesdays, so I can
pretty much never make it.
