Because of this, Pacu's are one of the most common fish to be released in the wild in the US. While they may not last long in our cold water, they may live long enough to pass an aquarium pathogen to our native fish. -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Laurel Larsen Sent: Monday, February 09, 2009 2:54 PM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Pacu rescue Pacus get to about 36" long and 36" tall. They're monstrous fish and totally unfit for the home aquarium, but big box stores like Petsmart and Petco sell them because they're cute when they're small and most people buying fish from those stores don't keep them alive long enough for them to become a problem. I don't believe the Seattle aquarium has a tropical freshwater section, though Point Defiance has a jungle pool IIRC. I know it sounds terrible, but your best bet might be having a tasty meal and playing tapps. On Feb 9, 2009, at 2:49 PM, matt kaufman wrote: > > <snark> Best might be one of the local restaurateurs.
