I wonder how hot the tanks got? I have a bunch of bristlenose in my old discus tank which I used to bring up to 84-86 degrees when I had Discus in there. I guess the tanks could have gotten up in the mid 90 degree range easily. I was gone during the Seattle heat wave and so missed out on the fun (I was in Foggy San Francisco where the temp topped out at 70) The tanks in the hottest part of the house are unfortunately my Axolotl and my two Saltwater Nano Tanks. My Axolotl was NOT happy even though I had my daughter throwing ice in his tank every chance she had. He seems better now but I am still doing frequent water changes and adding ice - he likes ICE cubes always! I really need to move him to a cooler spot. My saltwater tanks did ok but over the years I have had the things in them pared down to what would survive hotter temps (ie everything else I tried died). I tell you saltwater tanks are really not for the faint of heart. I did loose my Bubble coral out of my smallest tank. I wish I had had my daughter switch the saltwater tanks to lights off during the day. Oh well hopefully we will not get too many more periods like that.
