I've loved keeping Ryukins, Pearlscales and Orands for years. They've kept me busy with water changes, but that's a small price to pay for all the fun. Each fish has proved to be very much an individual. They've taught me a lot. I've lost some (poor management on my part) given/sold some, and am now down to two. They're sharing a 50 gal well-planted tank with white clouds, zebra danios, rummy noses, glowlights, and two algae-eating loaches. It's a lively, colorful place. One of the funnest things I've learned: How much experienced gold fish keepers disagree about everything. See you at the meeting. ----- Original Message ----- From: Betty Goetz<mailto:haika@drizzle.com> To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat<mailto:gsas-member@thekrib.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2009 11:45 AM Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Big Tank Suggestions > Thanks for the plug Betty. > > I keep the goldfish outside in the pond though. > > Jesse I was amazed at how much I enjoyed watching the little shubunkin babies Meredith & I rescued from my neighbor's pond back in 2007 (I think) grow up in a planted tank. You get a whole different perspective when you can see the WHOLE fish rather than just their backs (grin). Again, I'm probably the only one who enjoys goldfish enough to bring them inside....and all of mine are currently outside. But I've been roaming the house trying to figure out if I want to set up a 29g tank for the little ones inside. I have a 33long as well....hmmmmmm......
