I had metal stand and they do hold well for multiple tanks. However if you use
it on a uneven floor, the tank could crack. I've had a few 50 gallon breeders
cracked, but lucky it was in my basement next to the sump.

My 90gal is on top of my 40L cichlid tank, on a metal stand that's got to be
pushing 20 years old. Never had a problem, and that's holding up something
like a ton of water in our living room :-)
