Ken,

I have a 4'X12" metal stand that is likely older than I am.  Great construction 
and no problems.  I would recommend placing a 40 gal tank on the bottom as the 
clearance is not great.

I am not looking to get rid of the tank & stand but I am not looking to keep it 
ether.  I can send a picture off list or invite you up to Edmonds if you like.
