Im sure Phil will answer you, but one thing Roy and I have been talking about is the importance of flow in planted tanks that are co2 injected with good lights. The saltwater people seem to be obsessed with flow because of the sensitive nature of corals ( I think). I have noticed how tremendously the flow goes down when my plants get really grown out, and algae inevidably ensues in the areas with less good flow-even with good ferts, co2 and light. The benefit of another HOB filter is that you would be increasing flow, as well as filtration. I think you almost cannot have too much filtration. I am planning my next tank with a big pump normally used by saltwater folks to test out whether the increased flow really helps. I've heard its good (within reason) for fish health as well.
