Hi Shango, Just an FYI that Turface Pro League Grey, Soilmaster Select Charcoal, and Thrifty-Sorb from Autozone are all about 95% "Heat Treated Montmorillonite Clay Mineral". Depending upon where it from, additional other minerals will be found in it as well such as quartz, iron, manganese, etc. Roy Message: 5 Date: Wed, 16 Dec 2009 14:27:58 -0800 From: Shango Los <shango@shangolos.com> To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat <gsas-member@thekrib.com> Subject: [GSAS-Member] Mineral Rock Message-ID: <F7C82EE5-461D-40E1-826A-CAAD9E91B43D@shangolos.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Does anyone have any experience with mineral rock? I have seen it come up on some shrimp boards but am unconvinced. Is this something that would be either A. good for my tank's biology or B. good for my shrimp? Thanks for your experience. Those who live at the district used to take this clay as secret medicine for diarrhea, injury, toothache etc. They call the clay marvelous soil or magic white soil. It is a wonderful gift from the earth, which cannot be produced artificially. -Help maintain a good water quality - The pure natural Montmorillonite mineral rock is a lump of useful mineral groups . - Contains 16 necessary minerals such assilica acid, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, sodium, ferrous etc. around the core. These effective minerals keep water clean and help to supply nutrition dissolving slowly into water through ion exchanges Fishes and Shrimps bred in soil bottom pond of breeding district have glossy color like jewels.Their glossy color fade when they move into concrete made ponds or fish tanks. Why?It has been explained for long time because there is no soil in concrete made pond or fish tank. Some studies of soil ponds show that bottom of good soil ponds are usually made with clay or have mineral rock which contain rich amount of minerals. ------------------------------ Message: 7 Date: Wed, 16 Dec 2009 16:02:29 -0800 From: Shango Los <shango@shangolos.com> To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat <gsas-member@thekrib.com> Subject: [GSAS-Member] Cryptocoryne lingua Message-ID: <10476FBB-B358-4ECE-9B6C-99D4917570E0@ShangoLos.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hi again all, Lots of posts from me today. I tried the "Search" and it worked great as well. We have seen quite an increase in posts to our GSAS Member Chat in the last few years haven't we? Yes, there was a hardware upgrade. I looked it up, because I wasn't completely sure, but we've been running on the same basic hardware since July 2004. When I bought it, I thought forward and got a 64-bit processor with the idea that I might not replace it for several years, which sure turned out quite true. The replacement is not brand-new -- it's a dual-core, and has a lot more memory, but it's noticably faster than the old setup. The main drive has also been replaced, so there might be some speed there. There were also software updates across the board, some of which I was still applying at 2 AM last night. I'm a little loopy still. So, apparently, is the torrent tracker. Ah well. - Erik -- Erik Olson Sent from my crusty old Linux box erik at thekrib dot com ------------------------------ Message: 12 Date: Thu, 17 Dec 2009 11:56:24 -0800 From: Cory McElroy <corywmcelroy@hotmail.com> To: <gsas-member@thekrib.com> Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] All-clear... maybe? I've downloaded the shrimp, and plant talks. And bought the Dvd, but i would sure love to be able to download some old talks, like the one on geophagus etc :) Thanks, Cory > Date: Thu, 17 Dec 2009 11:28:42 -0800 > From: erik@thekrib.com > To: gsas-member@thekrib.com > Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] All-clear... maybe? > > On Thu, 17 Dec 2009, Seattle_Aquarist wrote: > > > Wow the site really seems quicker; did you do a hardware upgrade along with > > the phpBB software upgrade?
