My ameca splendens has proven to be something of a disappointment in the algae eating department. Since I got rid of my cichlids and silver dollads she has also become a bit mean, chasing fish smaller than herself. So, I would like to find her a new home. If you have hardy fish at least 3" long, she should be a fine roommate. (I am reasonably sure it's a female. The yellow stripe on the tail never developed but she's still pretty with iridescent scales on the flanks.) The new Sierra Fish & Pets in Renton is a nice shop. They have a much better selection than, say, Denny's or even Sierra's Bellevue location. The reef livestock is pretty limited right now but I saw some very nice green open brains for $50. They even had the brains resting on sand, which is what they prefer and not something I usually see when those corals are being sold. I ended up getting 6 young red rainbows<http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/rainbowfish/red.php>. Coloration is fair, and hopefully will improve as they age since they are only half their max size. I was going to get boesmani<http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/rainbowfish/boesemans.php>too, but they were recovering from ich, so I picked some up at the Bellevue shop instead. Same comments on coloration. One of the reds may be a hybrid... He has a strange (but neat) orange color under the deeper red scales. But I'm no expert on these guys. Anyway, I highly recommend checking out the new Renton shop when you get the chance.
