I agree with Roger that Internet and electronic form are important for the contest in two main issues: cost and geographical reach. Also the publication and judgment of the entries will have to be in the web (making on CD or paper will increase costs). As I said it would be very easy to get the photos scanned before submitting and also getting access through a public internet site (libraries, etc.) if you don´t have a personal account. I'm not banning non electronic entries just we have to encourage electronic entries. This issue have got a lot of comments so it would be better to get our attention on other points from now on. It would be important that ALL submissions be publish somewhere in the web, as I see it and from some comments here and on APD the issue moving this contest is learning from others experience and getting feedback on your personal submissions. It will be interesting to see all the submissions not only the winners. ---- It would be nice if someone (James ?) would send a summary of what has been discussed and agreed here, maybe once a week say Friday. In other way things can get out of control and we will have some disorder on the ideas exposed. Also we can send ideas openly for a period of time (this week and/or next) but then propose specific issues (again James?) and discussed them till clear or consensus is made and then go with next. Just ideas to do this organized and quickly. ---- Robert´s idea of promotion through web is great, I will search for Spanish (rest of America) and Portuguese (Brazil & Portugal) sites that would be interested in hosting some free promotions. James wrote: (Jose, you are gonna be one busy dude, what with covering ALL of South America....hehehehe) I will try to get in contact with petshops and associations to publicize the contest. ---- Roger S. Miller wrote Title: The Aquatic Gardeners' Association On-Line Aquascaping World Show Olga replied: Bit long and laborious. AGA International Aquascaping Competion sounds better to me. AGA International Aquascaping Show would be better, "Competition" maybe is to competitive ----- Robert H wrote: Should we have separate classification for tank size? One for small tanks, (under 55 gallon) one for large tanks, (over 55 gallon, or over 100 gallon)? This sound good maybe 3 classifications small(1-49), medium(50-99),large (100+) ----- On subject of more international participation I think there is a plant list on Singapore (I don't remember it right know) maybe we could post a message there looking for someone who is willing to collaborate with this. ---- James your idea of other judges sound great. ---- As for the time for the contest it would be best to start on January after all the Christmas and new year days are over. Also here is summer those months :) but that's ok. Jose
