This seems reasonable. This is an "opt out" strategy. I wouldn't worry about ticking people off, becuase it says "showcase and contest" right on the form anyway. Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with checkboxes per se, I just want to see the form kept as simple as possible to be effective (and I beleive these can actually go hand in hand).
