James sent me a message off-list with his draft of the initial contact email: "Here are the revised contact letters for sending out to clubs and organizations. A lot of them might not know what the AGA is, so I re-wrote your rough draft to highlight the organization. I also tighened things up a bit - I don't think we need worry about telling them we won't sell their information." I like the copy you sent, but I'm not comfortable sending out anything that doesn't explicitly invite them to contact me and be removed from the list. Nope, nada, won't do it. Sorry to be a bear about this, but we at least need to have something at the end of the message. Here's what I propose, in the interest of tightening things up: "If you do not wish to be contacted please reply to this email and let me know." How's that for short and sweet? I understand the selling-your-information thing is overkill and does not fit into the context of your revised copy, but the recipients have to be able to "opt-out" of these mailings. I'll send you my revision for approval.
