(I'm also a member of that >club) At that point, we could talk about getting a speaker of some sort. Remember, it doesn't have to cost you thousands. You just need to stay in close touch with Erik and/or Dave Gomberg, and piggy-back on them. Dave did that when I was invited out to seattle. Vancouver could have too, but didn't get organized in time for me to make the travel arrangements. If you have the speaker stay at someone's house, and only have to fly them from another west coast location, you should be able to do it for a few hundred at most. If you watch the rates, you can basically fly someone from any point in the U.S. to any other point in the U.S. for under $400. It might be a little more for Vancouver, but I can't imagine it's a HUGE jump. That amount split between 20 people is $20 a head. Certainly not that much to see a good quality speaker. That's what Dave did for the first meeting of the SF group. >Thank you for offering to bring this up to the AGA MC and to the NEC >folks. That was really my hope. I'll bring it up at our meeting this Sunday. Janine Banks called me last night, and they will not change their position on taping during lectures. She brought up even more (valid) points that I didn't think of. I don't know if she has responded directly to you or not. Whether there would be time to do something outside the meeting is still up in the air. As I said, I don't even have a camcorder, let alone wireless mikes and the like. There is a big question of "who" could do something like this, even if Claus agreed. >Hey, maybe someday I can send y'all a tape of myself doing a >presentation! ;-) There you go. You can be the first item in an AGA lending library! Well, you've already heard me speak, but if your small group wants to borrow the one Erik made, you have my permission. There is also a tape of my AMazon slide show in Minnesota, and I would also give you permission to use that, but with Olga as a member of the club, I suspect you've seen much of the same stuff already.
