AGA Bookstore

>

Dear AGAers,

Sales from the bookstore are going well. The Tropica book continues to be a
big
hit. A few items:

1. John Glaeser has ordered 30 Tropica books. I?d like to give him a courtesy
discount since discounts on bulk orders are typical of the book industry---
saves a
lot of individual mailings. How about if I charge him $10 per book instead of
the
usual $15? Since we?re only paying Tropica $6.40 per book, the AGA will not
lose
money. If I hear no objections from the SC or MC members, I will go ahead and
give
him this discount.

2. Mary McCaw asked about selling books to non-members. If the job of the AGA
is
promote using aquatic plants (not to force people to join the AGA), I don?t see
any
reason to cut non-members off. I would be inclined to continue the present
'open-door' policy of asking non-members pay the extra $5. However, please note
that my position on this issue is not set in concrete.

3. David Lass. You can budget my expenses for mailing back issues and books as
$50
per month or $600 per year. My expenses generally aren?t this much, but this
will
cover it generously.

4. Erik and Mary. Would you please include my name in the description of my
book
for the website and the next TAG? I was horrified to realize that my name is
not
listed as the author. Thus, the book?s description should say, "This 194 page,
hardcover book by Diana Walstad presents?.. ? As it stands, people have no
idea who
the author of the book is.

5. Erik and Mary. I am drowning in back issues of TAG. They?re not selling at
all
anymore. I would suggest that we try selling a grab bag of 10 back issues for
$15.
I?ll let you do the wording.

6. Aqua Stop CD ROMs. Dave Gomberg sent me me (without instructions for their
disposal) about 19 of these CD ROMs. I don?t think much of them; they have a
little
Japanese music and a little advertising, but very little information. Kind of a
gimmick. I would like to get rid of them, since I don?t think they?re worth
listing
for the AGA bookstore. I have started to send them out as gifts to those
ordering
one or more books. If any of you are interested in them, I will be glad to send
them to you for your personal use.

7. Bibliography for Aquatic Gardeners. I would suggest that we stop listing
this.
As a 1992 book, it?s way out of date, plus doesn?t tell people anything about
the
books or where to buy the books that are listed.
