A booklet inserted into TAG would be the most costly way to go. How much publicity to have and how much to spend is really a matter for the Steering Committee. I am going to forward them your e-mail and my reply. I have given other people who want items in the next TAG a deadline of April 7th. I am trying to move up the publication schedule, and the person who does the layout is slow. I would, however, be willing to be flexible about the date and give you another week if you need it. Then there is the matter of who is going to format the material for the layout person. I have too much on my plate right now and do not have the time. The material would need to be put in landscape format. We use Times New Roman 10 as our main font. Headings are done in Arial 14 bold, and sub-headings in Arial 11 bold. Side margins are .5, and top and bottom margins are .75. > > I think that if we are committing to this project, every member should > receive the whole list of rules, and the enty form. Is this not the case, Mary? My suggestion was to mail out the AGA/TNAQ and contest rules at the same time if possible. The printers I have talked to so far say they can't give me an estimate of the mailing costs of TAG because there are too many variables, including the weight of the particular issue. My guess would be that there wouldn't be too great a difference with respect to postage between the two options of sending out the contest rules and the convention announcement together or sending the contest details in TAG. The additional cost would come from the insert itself. I was originally thinking of a booklet or an insert stapled on the top, but perhaps I could have the printer put the whole contest section right in the middle which would not be removable, but should be cheaper. I have interviewed several printers and am waiting for estimates. I will be making a decision the beginning of next week. At that time, I will ask the printer I have choosen about the cost of a removable insert vs. having the information as part of the magazine in the middle section. James, hold up on doing the formating until you hear from me. We could do a stapled insert rather than a booklet which I think would cost less and wouldn't have to be in the landscape format. If the information is within TAG it will have to be in TAG format. Our layout person uses Page Maker, but I don't know the version he uses. Please let me know whatever other particulars you need aside from what I have already given you and the version of Page Maker Bob Day uses, and I will him e-mail you and have him send you the particulars. I put the magazine together since Bob wants it sent to him in completed form, so you would e-mail me the material. James has said that he can do the layout and can meet the deadline. These were my biggest concerns. So I have no problem with doing the contest publicity in TAG, but my understanding is that I need an authorization from the Steering Committee. So when I get an okay, I will be glad to proceed. I will wait for the estimates if you like, or I will go ahead and choose the most cost effective way to publicize all the information in TAG. However you want to proceed is fine with me. Mary > ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-mcm" in the body of the message.
