I'm glad you volunteered to be chair. Thanks for the great job you did in summarizing the open issues. > > To summarize this large list, the current "hot" items are > > * Resolution of the SC/MC relationship. Mary, can you ask Bob what we need to do? > (see the links in the full-blown list below for all discussion to date) Bob is out of town , but I spoke with him last night. There area couple of issues we need to decide on before Bob can draw up the incorporation papers. Once these decisions are made, he would be happy to assist us in drawing up the by - laws. Once we are incorporated, we can apply for non-profit status. The SC/MC relationship must be resolved. Then we need to decide how the Standing Committee members should be elected and whether or not the membership should vote. Both issues directly pertain to the wording of the by - laws. Bob recommended against giving the membership a vote. In most non-profit organizations, the membership does not have a vote. Bob addressed the reasons in his letter. But there is another reason which is not there. When the membership has a vote, it is extremely difficult, almost impossible, to get rid of someone who doesn't work out. A hearing would have to be held. Having said this, I will give my opinion. I am not in favor giving the general membership a vote because it is one thing to support the objectives of the organization and another thing to actually work for the organization. The general membership isn't in a postition to know who would be compatible in our group. In an organization such as ours, I think that people who do the work should choose who they want to work with. On the other hand, we need to be open to new people. I think we are, but the membership needs to know this. Perhaps listing TAG volunteer opportunities would help, but this goes back to the question of a volunteer co-ordinator. > INCORPORATION > > Draft bylaws Bob McCaw ? need to find out ? > Approve Bylaws SC or MC pending draft? Regarding the MC list below, we do have two new members. In the past, the Chair has announced and welcomed them in the "Chair's Message." I didn't announce the two new members in the new TAG because I felt it wasn't my place. Who is going to take care of the Chair's Message? Also, is Paul still chair of the Education Committee and Technical Advisor? Ooops! We have been omitting Merrill from the list. Sorry, Merrill. Should Merrill be listed as "Member-at-Large?
