We've warned the convention committee about this a number of times from past
experience. Amano is VERY particular about the plants he uses for his
aquascapes. I know some of the GWAPA people mentioned supplying him with
their cuttings, but you don't pay to bring someone like Amano all the way
from Japan, and then tell him how to do his job. Amano aquascapes
completely dry. It would be close to impossible to do this with submersed
foliage without a tremendous amount of damage.

I don't know the details, but Jeff has always been fair and honorable. I
think it's more likely that Jeff purchased the tank for some amount (perhaps
not full retail + shipping, but it WON'T be "new" by the time he gets it)
that he and Amano decided upon between them so that Amano could work on one
of his own tanks rather than use one of our U.S. tanks. Let's face it, AGA
would not/could not have imported all that stuff just for this demo.

I'd also like to point out the dichotomy between these two "issues". On the
one hand, we're griping that someone else got Amano to ship incredibly
heavy, expensive stuff all the way here from Japan, and on the other, we're
nickle and diming about the plants he has asked us to provide for the demo.
