Hopefully Phil will be well soon. I can't belive we haven't scared the heck out him. Rick and Mary (does Mary even keep aquaria or did we Shangai her?) were running around all weekend and some (most?) of the stuff *nobody* could do anything to change. Ray also tried to dicker with the hotel and he was unseccessful too -- in fact, that failed attempt might be part of the vendor disappointment -- Oy Gevalt, give me the strength to deal with human nature! And I couldn't and wouldn't think of trying to point a finger at anyone. All the hard work, the injuries on duty, the illnesses that didn't stop anyone from their tasks. The vendor thing is just some stuff that goes with the territory but something we can learn a few things from too. And the AGA Board can learn some things about itself, hopefully, from GWAPA. All the thing Rick mentions will help. It's not a catastrophe it's just something we have to deal with keeping the long term relationships in mind. It's like using Microsoft products, you can't tell when they will act up, and sometimes there's no rational explanation why they do but when they do you and they give you that "Error -- click OK" window, you just have click "OK" button and deal with the damage. I think bruised egos are a part of it and a little earnest salve will go a long way so long as it doesn't look token. Despite the vendor access thing, the hotel did very well for us. Also, the hotel bill/payment went very smoothly, a result of all the time and effort Rick and Ghazanfar put into negotiations and the experience that Larry lended to those efforts. sh --- RickDotson@aol.com wrote: > I was working with the vendors as soon as I was aware > that they arrived in the hotel.
