Re: [AGA-mcm] List Membership as of now

Heck, they don't even have to be a member. They can just follow their nose on the web site.

But that was the original intent behind the members list. That is where ANY
member can come and tell us their ideas, offer to help, etc. Maybe we just
need to float so of OUR ideas through there for input more often. The nice
thing about that list is that it's TOTALLy non-exclusionary. Anyone who is
a member and has an e-mail address can be on the list.

Hi Erik/MCM,

I was kind of thinking along the same lines wondering
when we were going to go back to the pre-conference
list. I did have an idea but I should have sent it to
you before.

I was thinking that we should keep the list as is with
Ghazanfar, Jay, Sean, etc alive but use it for a
slightly different purpose.

I thought that we could create a new list with the
current MCM members for discussions that should be
kept confidential, but use the old list to do two
things. First to get additional view points on ideas,
and second to try and find out who really should be
included in the long-term AGA decisions. In fact I
thought of expanding it to other folks who claim to be
interested in helping out.

I know that it would be a PIA figuring out what to
send to what list but I think the benefits of
including more members in specific AGA direction
related decisions is significant. I lso think we have
a lot of untapped talent in the AGA and this list
might be a good way to find out.

Although, I agree with Erik's concerns I also hate to
"remove" people who have shown an interest in wanting
to help. I am already tired of reading "AGA Members"
posting statements in other forums about the AGA in
the third person as if the AGA was some seperate
intransigent entity of planted aquarists.

Most folks won't actually do the work to back up their
talk anyways but this way at least they can't say that
we were excusionary either.

Just a suggestion...

Regards,
Larry Lampert

As of this minute, the list membership is now:

Ann, Phil, Cheryl, David, Dorothy, Erik, Kathy,
Karen, Larry, Michael,
Paul and Scott.

It feels wrong pulling Jay off the list, but I did
it. There will be a
lot of "inside" discussions occuring over the next
few months, especially
about next years' convention, and based on the
attitude Jay has shown here
and in his forum postings regarding AGA business,
several board members
were starting to feel uncomfortable discussing
inside business on this
list for fear it would get leaked to outside forums
or otherwise
broadcast.

I think there is still promise, and we could pull
Jay back in (if he
wants), but someone would have to have a good talk
with him about conduct
on forums when representing the AGA.
