Re: [AGA-mcm] ACA Spy Report, lessons to learn #126, "purpose ofthe convention"

My personal feeling is that at the level we've seen so far (and as you've said there has been less rather than more in the last couple of yeaers... partly, I think, because we've kept people so busy!!!<g>) that there is no problem with it. There are typically going to be less bags of some particularly choice plants than there are people who want them. While it might drive prices up if there is no trading, it will also send less people home happy. Ultimately, people who LOVE the convention, and want to come back next year (or who want to talk their local club into hosting) are our best insurance for on-going conventions.

What are board members' reactions to the practice of bringing along some tank clippings and doing informal trading/give away in the lobby or in the hospitality room. It seemed to me that there was a lot less of that in 2004, 2003 than there was in 2000, 2001. Do board members think it interferes with profits from the auction?
