Re: [AGA-mcm] Back Issues of PAM

I was worried about that as soon as I saw your and Scott's responses. I thought you had decided not to include PAM. Sorry. (and no, I'm quite sure the agreement with authors was first NA rights only)

I'm HOPING that I did enough ego-stroking in the post that he'll be OK with it... especially since he's focused on dumping as many of Christel's books at NEC as possible.

I guess in a worst case scenario, we pull the PAM material out of the DVD's produced going forward, and I put my foot down as one of the authors and say HE can't reproduce PAM electronically either. The end result would hurt hobbyists more than anyone else, and eventually, I think he could be made to see that.

Sigh. I hope Dave is not paying attention too closely to this thread on the APD. This could get nasty.

The pickle is that I DID include the two out-of-print issues of PAM in the TAG CD.

As far as I'm concerned, these reprints are as darned close to reprints of the magazines as humanly possible. We went through this five years ago... If we started doing OCR and reformatting, it's no longer strictly a reprint. But since these are just scans of the pages directly, they're essentially reprints. Did Gomberg's agreement with his authors not cover reprint of the magazine itself?

What I'm worried about now is that either (a) Dave will now claim that we're illegally reprinting PAM, because he has the rights even though we bought all the stock and bailed out his membership, or (b) Dave will, in his "undercutting" mode, make his own CD with all the PAM issues on it, and we will essentially lose whatever remaining value the paper copies have.
