Re: [AGA-mcm] Ping David Lass!

The 20 or so stores I deal with were less than enthusiastic, sorry to say. The problem is that 1) they are so busy and there is so little money for them that they won't budge and 2) They do not have any space to display AGA stuff. There are a few stores who have nice plant sections who I have been leaving TAGs with, but they have told me that they will pass stuff out because they want folks to have success with plants, and they do not want any remuneration.

Guess I should have been specific instead of cute. Last year, during my Membership Initiative Phase, there was a resoultion that passed the BOD about promoting the AGA in pet stores. David was trying hard to help me with that in Sept - Oct 2004, but then it sort of petered out with Life and Everything.

I think this e-mail is a great reason to jump back in. It's good to review your goals now and then. But the timing is bad for me because I'm about to go into the Wilds of Arkansas Without E-mail Access for the weekend.

Here is the Fifth Initiative from 2004:

-------------------------------
5. Pet Store Incentives
This was David Lass’s idea: that for every four (this # was my idea) members a store brings in, the store would get one free membership to give to its employees or whatever. AGA would provide flyers and 2 sample back issues, and the store would be responsible for collecting the completed membership applications and their payments, and send them along to me. I would make sure they are entered into the database when they have four members “collected.”

AGA expense would be the cost of postage for mailing sales letters, cost of flyers, and the cost of free issues to participating stores.

This could also been done in conjunction with an offer of a Pet Store Package of back issues of TAGs and PAMs, such as David sold several years ago. But we are now, in my opinion, in the Realm of Promotions, and beyond the World of Membership.

--------------------------------------

Comments, questions, answers would be appreciated.

I'll check in tomorrow morning, and then not until Monday unless I can sneak onto my brother-in-law's computer.

Dear Cheryl,

My name is Scott Davidson and I am the senior manager at AquaTouch. We are a marine/planted aquarium retail store. I would like to offer The Aquatic Gardener's Journal to my retail customers. Would you please let me know if this is feasible and what you might need from me. I am also curious if the Aquatic Gardeners Association offers a discount to retailers.

Looking forward to your response,

Scott@AquaTouch.com
