Technically, the proposal reserves the right of the AGA to stop any discussion or poster for any reason without even saying why. [Whims are actually easier to defend, in some cases, than reasons.] But as a matter of policy I think we should very very minimal on control of content. My thinking was and is this: The more editing control you claim, the more responsibility for content you have and the more liability and risk. So don't take any more responsibility than absolutely necessary. While taking responsibilty for "unfamily like" or obsene picks up some risk, it also provides some protection since facilitation of such content has fadctored in legal cases. Legally, we cannot violate community standards, whatever the comunity is and providing a venue for the violation can be a violation. As I understand it, it's diff for other stuff, like rudeness, disparagement, etc. That is tortious stuff and the standard for responsibility is diff. Any way -- Negative? If someone says they don't like TMG, that's negative, but will we stop it? Although I disagree with the opinion, I think we will welcome having opinons expressed. What if someone says Tom Barr is pontificating? As unlikely as that might seem, it's happened before. Is that over the line? At least the "family" and obsenity" standards, as horribly vague as they are, have lots of other legally established bases to which we can appeal if we ever need to. > >3. Seems like an awful lot of topics. Sure. I stole them from Larry and he's an idea man, among other things. But definitely *cut down the list to what can be asssigned to moderators at the get go*, and leave the rest as possible futures or leave them out of the text entirely. The proposal doesn't preclude adding some later. But definitely only put on the active list forums against which you can put a moderator's name. I tried to err on the side of too many, so that the mods could cut as necessary. If no mod takes a forum, then take it off the list and move it to the possible future list. > >Good rules (opening proposal) Maybe it sounds blabbity blah enough that patrons will blame "the lawyers" and not the AGA Board for the fine print -- the EULA Hoola . ;-) However, there isn't a thing on there that isn't on other forums out in webworld. _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm
