Collections of liverworts in the northwest might be done near Opal Creek,
Salem, Oregon; almost anywhere in the Olympics along the Interstate corridor
(except off federal land); and I believe a few areas in the Cascades are
open. Just to be on the safe side, warn your friends not to collect anything
in a national park or forest. The 1994 Northwest Forest Plan has protections
against harming bryophytes on every managed federal land in the NW under the
Endangered Species Act.
